Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Yorisu collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, chosen username, and display name.
Profile information you voluntarily provide: bio, birthday, country, social media links, profile picture, and banner image.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interactions (likes, bookmarks, comments) linked to your account.
Content you submit: articles, pictures, data edits, and comments.
2. How We Use Your Information
To operate and personalize your Yorisu experience (bias lists, bookmarks, contribution tracking).
To send transactional emails (magic-link sign-in, account notifications). We do not send marketing emails without explicit consent.
To moderate content and enforce our community guidelines.
To improve the platform by analyzing anonymized usage patterns.
3. Data Storage & Security
Core account and community data are stored with our infrastructure providers, including Supabase for database and authentication services.
We use passwordless authentication (OAuth via Google/Discord, and email magic links). No passwords are stored. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth.
We use row-level security (RLS) to ensure you can only access data you are authorized to see.
Profile images and uploaded media are stored in Cloudflare R2 / CDN-backed object storage with access controls and moderation workflows where applicable.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Public profile information (username, display name, bio, contributions) is visible to all site visitors.
We may share data with service providers strictly necessary for site operation, such as hosting, authentication, storage, email, error monitoring, and payment infrastructure providers.
We will disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Your Rights
You can edit or delete your profile information at any time via the Settings page.
You can request account deletion via Settings > Danger Zone. This permanently disables your account and anonymizes your contributions.
You may request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
Users in the EU/EEA have rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to be forgotten.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, and session management.
If third-party services such as advertising or measurement providers are active on Yorisu, they may use cookies or similar technologies subject to their own policies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may affect sign-in and core site functionality.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via a site notice.
Continued use of Yorisu after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
