In 2018, Kim Garam and her friend auditioned for Source Music. Although she didn't make it at first, she eventually recieved a casting offer from the agency two years later. She auditioned again and passed to become a trainee.

Kim Garam has a brother 10 years younger than her. He used to follow along her moves whenever she was practicing her dancing.
