Noise was a South Korean dance and techno music group formed in 1992. They were one of the notable dance-oriented pop acts of the early 1990s, active during the period that preceded the first major wave of idol groups in South Korea. The group originally debuted in October 1992 with the single “What I Wanted from You”, which topped domestic music charts and helped establish their popularity. Their lineup included [Han Sang-il](https://kpopping.com/profiles/idol/han-sang-il), Hong Jong-gu, Chun Sung-il, and Kim Hak-gyu, and their music combined elements of dance, techno, hip-hop, and pop. Throughout the 1990s, Noise released multiple studio albums, including Sound Shock (1992), Noise 2 (1994), 3rd Revolution (1995), Breakin’ The Noise (1995), Unchangable (1996), and Anti Noise (1998). Their sound featured upbeat rhythms and electronic production characteristic of early Korean pop dance music. Noise is remembered as part of South Korea’s early generation of dance groups alongside acts such as Seo Taiji and Boys, Deux, and Roo’ra, contributing to the evolution of the domestic dance-pop scene that laid groundwork for later idol formations. By the late 1990s, the group gradually ceased regular promotional activity and is considered to have disbanded, though they continued to influence the country’s pop and techno dance music landscape.
