The Kim Sisters were the first Korean female group to find success in the USA, peaking at #7 on Billboard and leaving a legacy many still feel today. The trio was formed in 1945 during the Korean war. The members relative Lee Nan-Young created the Kim Sisters to bring in money for the family. They officially debuted in January 1953 on an American army base in South-Korea, where they covered popular English songs such as 'Ole Buttermilk Sky'. In 1959, they released their debut album 'Their First Album' . In 1959 the members traveled to Las Vegas to perform at the thunderbird hotel during their China Doll show. This is where they gained recognition and fame, later allowing them to perform on the popular Ed Sullivan Show 22 times between 1960 and 1974. The trio disbanded in 1975 following the members marriages and wanting to choose different career paths. In 1987, member Aeja Kim passed away from lung cancer. In 2014, member Sue Kim was the first female Korean-American to be added to the Nevada University Hall of Fame. In 2015, a documentary was released called 'Try to Remember', it reinacted the story of the Kim Sisters and their mother.
