SMArt is a subsidiary music label under SM Entertainment, created with the aim of blending a broad range of musical styles and presenting K-pop as a form of cultural art. The label was launched with a focus on distinctive creative direction and tailored production systems, positioning itself to showcase fresh and visually driven sound concepts. Its first major project centers on actor-singer Yim Si-wan. SMArt is overseeing the creation and production of his debut solo album, scheduled for release in December, and is preparing a global fan tour set for early the following year. Kangta, the main vocalist of first-generation group H.O.T. and a long-time director at SM Entertainment, has been appointed as the label’s executive producer. His role includes supervising SMArt’s overall creative output, supporting artist development, and guiding the label’s long-term musical strategy. Kangta previously served as a non-executive director at SM and worked as a creative director and a lead producer for SM’s publishing subsidiary, Kreation Music Rights, where he headed one of its CICs, Smashhit. SM Entertainment has stated that Kangta will contribute to both the production of projects for various artists and the discovery and training of emerging creative talent, reinforcing the label’s broader mission of expanding SM’s artistic ecosystem.
